You are on an Amazon UK page for a spot patch, and the price looks fine. Before you pay, check it is the pack you meant, and note who is selling it. You cannot turn the carton over on a product page. You can still read the seller, the count, and the photos. A printed date, if the box has one, shows up when the parcel arrives.
Hydrocolloid is the cheap round disc, roughly 15–40p a patch. It collects fluid from a whitehead, an open spot, or anything already weeping. A closed early bump is a microdart job, typically £0.60–£2.50+ a cone, so check the retailer. Anything deep, painful, cystic, or recurring needs a GP. A patch is not a cure, and a tired box does not change that. The hydrocolloid vs microdart comparison is the format choice. This page is the carton and the seller.
What the listing can tell you
Amazon shows a title, a price, a seller line, and photos. A best-before date is rarely in the title. Do not wait for the product page to name the month the discs were packed.
Read the pack count in the title and match it to the number beside the price. On this site, COSRX Master Patch is a 24-patch mixed-size sheet. Mighty Patch Original is 36 of one everyday size. A familiar name with a different count is a different buy. The Amazon, Boots, and Superdrug comparison is that pack match.
Listing photos get reused. Scroll the customer photos for a crushed carton, an open flap, a lifted film, or a date someone has photographed. One old picture is not a verdict. Several recent pictures of tired packaging are a reason to choose another seller, or a shop where you can hold the box.
Sold by, and who posts it
“Sold by” and “Dispatches from” are not the same line. Amazon can sell the listing. Another shop can sell it while Amazon stores and posts it. A third shop can both sell and post it.
None of those lines tells you the age of the discs. They tell you who answers if the box is not the one in the photo. Note the name before you pay. If you later ask about a printed date, you are asking that seller.
A very low price is not proof of old stock. It can be a smaller count or a short offer. Divide the price by the patches on that listing. COSRX is often around £5.99 for 24, about 25p a disc. Mighty Patch Original is often around £10–12 for 36 on Amazon UK, or about £8.79 for 36 at Boots. Check the retailer on the day. If the pence only looks clever because the count dropped, it is not a bargain.
The condition line should say new. A used listing, or a box shown already open, is a different product. Once a hydrocolloid disc leaves the film, it is single use.
When the parcel is on the table
Open the mailer before you peel a disc. The useful marks are on the carton and on the film.
Look for a printed date, a lot code, or a batch number. Boxes do not all carry the same mark. Some show a month and a year. Some show a short code and nothing you can read as a date. If a date is printed and it has already passed, stop there. The date on the box is in the past. Use the seller’s returns route rather than wearing the sheet.
A lot code is a mark you can photograph. You cannot turn those letters into a packing month at the kitchen table. If you write to the seller, send a photo of the mark, the seller name, and the order date.
The film should still lie flat. Discs stuck together, a split flap, or a crushed carton are reasons to pause. Heat can soften a sheet you already own, which the travel packing guide covers. That is about your bag, not every Amazon parcel.
Leave unused discs on the sheet. Peeling a row to inspect them wastes them. Clear does not date the box. If an unworn disc is already cloudy, look at the film and the carton, and do not stick it on as a test.
The date does not change the job
An in-date hydrocolloid disc still only collects fluid from the surface. It will not flatten a closed bump. Leave a microdart cone sealed, and do not squash it while you hunt for a code. Deep, painful, cystic, or recurring spots need a GP. The seller and the date do not change that.
If a disc stays clear after a proper night, the usual reason is the format, not a hidden change in the carton. The unchanged-bump guide covers that. Colour after a real wear is in the white-centre guide.
Turn the box over in a shop
Boots and Superdrug let you pick the carton up before you pay. Look for a date or a lot mark, check the film is flat, and match the count. That helps when the spot is already here. Superdrug is the walk-in for the COSRX mixed sheet. Boots is the walk-in for Mighty Patch Original 36. Amazon UK still fits when you can wait and the seller is one you will deal with.
Where to buy in the UK
For the COSRX 24-patch mixed sheet, the Amazon UK listing is COSRX Master Patch. It is often listed around £5.99. Read the seller and the count, then check the carton when it arrives. Superdrug is the other named path. Mighty Patch Original, a 36-pack of one size, is at Boots, Hero UK, Tesco, and Amazon UK. Both packs are on where to buy hydrocolloid patches.
More notes sit in all guides. If you are still choosing a format rather than a seller, start with hydrocolloid vs microdart.
